Good thing they have a tasting menu! I'd taste everything on the menu if it weren't so darn pricey, though.

The Skinny

Shibuya Teppanyaki Vegas has a variety of menus, from traditional Japanese cuisine, to the tasting menu, and of course as the title suggests they have a whole menu dedicated to the Teppanyaki style. Basically, it's just Japanese food cooked in an iron griddle. Cowboys do that too right? But they don't have a fancy name for it. They just call it cooking. Why can't we all be simple like that? Casino Boy can't ever pronounce this by the time dinner rolls around... It's like they expect diners to be sober or something? No thanks!

The Environment:

Shibuya Las Vegas is an upscale and trendy restaurant. It's not so upscale that only couples being ooey-gooey on a romantic date will feel comfortable here, but you'll be paying more, and will expect to be dressed better than you would at the buffet.

Why We Dine:

Shibuya Teppanyaki Vegas isn't your average Japanese restaurant, but you'll still get your standard food and sake in an classy way.

  • Sake Specialist: As we feel every Asian restaurant should, Shibuya Teppanyaki Las Vegas employs a sake specialist to find all the best sakes, and recommend them to us. We're not sake experts, we just know how to drink it
  • Group Menu: Parties of 10 or more have to make a reservation in advance at Shibuya MGM Grand Las Vegas, and you are not allowed to all order off the regular menu. You pre-order your meal and it's all served family style.
  • Tasting Menu: Shibuya Teppanyaki Las Vegas has a lot of variety in the dishes on the tasting menu, and they are not your average dishes that you'll find in any old Japanese restaurant. These complex creations are something you'd probably hesitate to order on your own, but they are the chef's specialties, and he seems to know what he's doing here.

Inside Knowledge:

Shibuya Teppanyaki Las Vegas has a daily mochi ice cream assortment for dessert. Sticky rice and ice cream doesn't sound great, but it's a favorite on the dessert menu here.

We Recommend:

  • Avoiding the Teppanyaki Tables: Shibuya Las Vegas does like to emphasize their specialty Teppanyaki tables, but it's pretty overpriced, and any of the other menus are better than what you'll get here. Plus, there's a $30 share charge (seriously?!), so that's out of the question as well.
  • Lobster Miso Soup: This spic(ier-than-average) soup at Shibuya Teppanyaki Las Vegas is filled with fresh lobster and, if you're into soup, you'll be in to this.

Is it Worth It?

Even though the prices are high, the food is good.
